JEFF SCOTT
Wearing the trademark horn-rimmed glasses, tousled hair, two-piece double-breasted suit and white socks, Jeff Scott more than fits the bill as Buddy Holly on looks alone.
"I was already involved with music a long time before I began 'doing' Buddy Holly.” he said. "I was playing in rock and roll bands and more and more people began telling me that I looked like Buddy Holly. Whenever we did a Buddy Holly
song I’d get into the character. Word got out that I was good at it and when an opening in a show similar to this one came along, I took it."
A Canadian from Toronto, Scott finds he likes portraying the Texan Holly...even though it wasn't as easy a transition as he had first thought it would be.
“It was a trick because there's not a lot of film on him, he wasn't like Elvis," Scott explains. There were clips from the Ed Sullivan show...and the Buddy Holly movie with Gary Busey.
“A lot of people associate him with that movie...I think they took liberties with the story, but their presentation of his style and energy were right on. "
Scott captures the energy, the voice, the essence for “Rockin' America," and the response from audiences so far has been favorable.
“The crowds have been enthusiastic which helps us get into it more," he states. When you know they’re on your side, you can take it further.
“I like that the show flows well with the music of that era. Gary has built it all to where it fits together...the right artist follows the right artist according to that period of time. Each act compliments the other."
